Authorities say they apprehended a man in Evansville, Indiana, on his way back from Chicago, Illinois, with fentanyl, meth, heroin, and pills.
On Tuesday, detectives with the Evansville Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force got anonymous information that Andrew Sheets was traveling from Chicago to Evansville with a substantial amount of drugs.
Detectives say they used surveillance to identify Sheets’ vehicle as being in Chicago on the night of April 15 and the day of April 16. As surveillance continued, they said the vehicle looked to be returning from Chicago to Evansville.
Authorities say they continued to monitor the vehicle until it arrived in Vanderburgh County, where Sheets was pulled over for speeding.
After a K9 detected drugs in the vehicle, investigators say they discovered pills, heroin, meth, and fentanyl. Sheets allegedly acknowledged concealing meth in his underwear.
Detectives say the entire amount of fentanyl and heroin mixture seized was 80.3 grams, which is equivalent to more than 800 fentanyl doses for an average user.
Sheets was arrested and brought into the Vanderburgh County Jail, where he faces drug trafficking and possession charges.
