A tragic incident occurred at a Nissan plant in Mississippi where a woman lost her life after being reportedly kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, according to authorities.
According to WTVA, Sheriff Willie March of Holmes County reported that 29-year-old Joshua Andrews abducted his ex-girlfriend, Glynis Jackson, on Monday morning from the parking lot of the Nissan plant in Canton.
According to reports, Andrews reportedly abducted Jackson, a mother of three, and quickly escaped onto Interstate 55 in a vehicle.
During her time in Holmes County, Jackson unfortunately fell out of the vehicle and was subsequently struck and killed by another vehicle, according to March.
Investigators are currently conducting an investigation to ascertain whether Jackson was forcefully pushed out of the vehicle or if she made the decision to jump out herself in an effort to escape.
Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker reported that Jackson had sustained several gunshot wounds and was discovered deceased at the 161-mile marker in Holmes County.
A gun was found at the scene.
Andrews willingly turned himself in at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, according to Tucker, will face prosecution in Madison County. Currently, the suspect is being held at the Madison County Detention Center without bond.
Andrews faces serious charges of capital murder and illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
“This crime is truly appalling and deeply disturbs society. Andrews will face the full force of the law and will be prosecuted accordingly,” stated Tucker.
According to the Holmes County sheriff, Andrews had a prior arrest for aggravated assault and served a prison sentence.
“It’s truly tragic for her life to be taken in such a terrible circumstance,” March expressed with sadness. “We had actually apprehended and incarcerated the young man responsible for this several years ago for aggravated assault. It’s evident that he had a volatile temperament to carry out such a heinous crime. However, it deeply saddens me that this young lady had to be the victim.”
Authorities are currently conducting investigations to ascertain the motive behind the incident.
