Federal lawsuit filed by parent alleging foul play in custody battle

Shawn Reed obtained full custody of his child in early 2017. However, he lost custody following allegations made by the other parent. Since late 2017, Reed has been engaged in a custody battle and has been limited to supervised visits only.

FOX23 previously reported on Reed’s situation when state lawmakers called on the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) to look into his custody battle involving his daughter, in which he alleged that the mother had sexually abused the child.

During Reed’s most recent court appearance on August 12, he made an assertion that the other parents and the guardian ad litem had committed perjury and provided false testimony against him.

Reed made an attempt to establish the perjury by requesting the court transcripts and audio recordings from August 12. However, he encountered a setback as he was informed that there was no transcript available for that particular court hearing. Furthermore, the audio recording only captured the sound of birds chirping outside, providing no valuable information.

Reed expressed frustration with the lack of audio in the transcripts, stating, “The audio was just birds chirping, so I’d like to know what happened to my transcripts. Who hid it? Where’d they hide it? Why did they hide it or erase it? Somebody’s done something with my transcripts.”

Reed argued in court that his constitutional rights were being violated, and as a result, he filed a federal lawsuit seeking custody of his daughter. This legal action was prompted by both the alleged abuse by the other parent and the perceived infringement on his rights.

Reed expressed his frustration, saying, “Once again, I find myself stripped of my rights, with no means to appeal. The lack of transcripts proving the guardian ad litem’s false report leaves me powerless in this court case. Both the guardian ad litem and my ex-partner have committed perjury on the stand, yet I am left with nothing but birds chirping in my attempts to fight this injustice.”

According to Reed, this is not the first occurrence of such an incident.

Reed expressed his frustration, stating, “I have experienced numerous violations of my rights in the past, and this incident is just another example of it.”

According to him, he has also demonstrated that the Oklahoma Department of Human Services has provided false information in court regarding his case.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has stated that they refrain from providing comments on individual cases.

In the grand jury petition for Tulsa County, the legal counsel opposing him in court is mentioned. Additionally, Reed’s case is included in a draft of a similar grand jury petition in Pottawatomie County that has not been filed yet.

Two petitions have been filed, urging investigations into the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS), as well as county district judges and attorneys. The allegations involve crimes against children and court perjury.

Reed revealed that he was contacted by the FBI, who collected evidence regarding his allegations of the court records going missing in relation to his custody case.

By policy, the FBI cannot confirm or deny an ongoing investigation.
