Car theft poses a significant challenge for vehicle owners and jeopardizes public safety. In a recent incident, Florida police officers were alerted about a stolen vehicle and had to resort to drastic measures to apprehend the suspect. Consequently, the perpetrator has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence.
Not only did the man run from a traffic stop, but he also decided to drive while under the influence
Police in Miami-Dade County were alerted about a wrong-way driver on the Palmetto Expressway near Northwest 67th Avenue around 11:30 PM on February 20th, as reported by Local 10. Upon spotting the SUV, the officers attempted to pull it over, but the suspect reversed into another vehicle and fled the scene. It was later discovered that the SUV had been reported stolen.
The police persisted in attempting to pull over the suspect involved in the car theft. In their efforts, they employed a PIT maneuver, successfully bringing the SUV to a halt near a guardrail. Subsequently, they approached the vehicle and apprehended the individual. Shockingly, he disclosed that he had consumed fentanyl and MDMA prior to operating the stolen vehicle.
During the traffic stop, the police discovered additional drugs. They found two clear bags containing a white, powdery substance. Furthermore, there was a dog present in the backseat of the SUV. Following the arrest, the police took the suspect to the Jackson West Medical Center. However, the man refused to provide a urine or blood sample. As a result, he now faces charges for grand theft of a vehicle, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license.
