Who doesn’t enjoy a “Florida Man” story? Something from the funny arrest stories book never fails to make me laugh. There’s one individual in this Florida Man story who’s probably not laughing. Recently, a seemingly routine traffic encounter led to the arrest of Brett Waronicki for DUI. However, when Waronicki revealed that he was a circuit judge, detectives discovered a major scandal.
Florida man and Circuit Judge Brett Waronicki found himself in handcuffs for a DUI and drug paraphernalia charges
Police in Martin County stopped a Ford F-150 on Northwest Jensen Beach Boulevard near Jensen Beach, Florida. The driver obliged and pulled over, along with the F-150’s two occupants. Brett M. Waronicki, a 46-year-old Florida man, was a subject of interest to local law enforcement.
This traffic stop was not an accident. Police sought to arrest Waronicki after weeks of inquiry. Waronicki was allegedly involved in drug activity in a Jensen Beach pub. The probe culminated a few days ago when officers from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office pulled the Florida guy over in his F-150. The shocking revelation is that Waronicki holds the position of a circuit judge.
During the traffic check, officers determined that Waronicki was driving under the influence (DUI). This is a significant charge on its own. But that was not the end of the man’s wrongdoings. According to TC Palm, police charged the Florida circuit judge with possessing drug paraphernalia.
Of course, the Florida man, who has been practicing law in some capacity for more than 20 years, was not alone in the full-size pickup truck. Wendy Ditroia, 43, and Christopher Greenman, 36, were also inside the truck.
Police accused both passengers of cocaine possession, and Greenman was also charged with drug paraphernalia. The details of the paraphernalia charges were not specified further. According to O’Mara Law Group, the charge often relates to “any product, equipment, or material” used to make or abuse a banned substance.
