A former detention officer has been apprehended and charged with the offense of smuggling contraband into the Oklahoma County Detention Center (OCDC).

Casey Slone, aged 31, was arrested on Wednesday by the OCDC for two charges. The charges include introducing contraband into the jail and engaging in illegal communications with an inmate using a contraband cellphone.

According to reports, Slone allegedly tried to sneak illegal items into a correctional facility located in Pittsburg County.

Slone was hired on August 21, 2023, and unfortunately, he was fired on July 30, 2024.

Information provided by the Department of Corrections led to our investigators uncovering a specific instance, on May 14, 2024, when Slone allegedly coordinated a contraband drop during her lunch break. Surveillance footage and recorded phone calls indicate she smuggled K2-laced papers and other contraband into the facility and delivered the contraband to a resident. – Oklahoma County Detention Center

“The public and our colleagues trusted this former detention officer, making their actions a complete betrayal,” expressed Brandi Garner, CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center, while condemning the officer’s behavior. She emphasized that smuggling contraband into the facility not only jeopardizes lives but also compromises security and shakes the very foundation of our justice system. Garner further emphasized that their organization has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards such misconduct. This incident serves as a clear reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and accountable in our line of work.”

Slone is being charged with the following offenses:

    • Carrying a weapon, drugs, or alcohol into jail
    • Accessing a computer system or network with unlawful intent.
    • She has since posted a $10,000 bond and was released from custody.

After posting a $10,000 bond, she was able to secure her release from jail.
