Shelby Anne Brannon, 41, of Lexington Park, was apprehended by St. Mary’s County officials on April 7 as a fugitive from Pennsylvania, where she is facing many outstanding drug offenses dating back to March 2024.
Brannon was arrested after deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office identified her during a standard intake process at the detention facility, which revealed two different active warrants from Pennsylvania. The warrants include accusations for making, delivering, or possessing controlled narcotics with the intent to distribute, as well as possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
The original charges stem from a traffic stop near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on March 7, 2024, when Pennsylvania State Police allegedly discovered cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in a vehicle occupied by Brannon and another individual, Carl Lewis, who was also detained at the time. Brannon was previously released because of the absence of immediate extradition arrangements.
According to court documents, Brannon had an outstanding warrant from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, for failing to appear for a hearing on a separate assault accusation in June 2024.
During an April 7 hearing, Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser ordered that Brannon be kept without bond at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center until extradition procedures. Brannon voluntarily renounced extradition, which facilitated her return to Pennsylvania authorities.
A fugitive hearing in St. Mary’s County District Court is set for May 2, 2025, to settle extradition procedures.
