A Guatemalan national was sentenced to jail after he was found living in Pennsylvania, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced.
Despite his previous deportation, authorities found Elvis Alfonso Lopez-Perez, 32, living in Carlisle. United States District Judge Keli M. Neary sentenced him to eight months in jail for illegally reentering the nation.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, Lopez-Perez was deported on February 1, 2013. He then illegally reentered at an unknown time and was discovered on May 28, 2024, without the necessary authority to do so legitimately.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that uses the Department of Justice’s full resources to combat the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect communities from violent criminals.
