During Monday evening in south Minneapolis, “unruly” scenes resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to five others due to shots being fired.

Gunfire broke out on Franklin Avenue East between 16th and 17th avenues south around 11:30 p.m., according to the Minneapolis Police Department. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after being taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered five additional victims, including a man who had sustained gunshot wounds that were potentially life-threatening. Two other men had also been shot but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, while two women had also sustained gunshot wounds that were deemed non-life-threatening.

According to the police, they are currently investigating the details surrounding the shooting. It is believed to have taken place in close proximity to a small encampment, and authorities have recovered a single gun from the area. Further information is still being gathered to determine the circumstances of the incident.

According to MPD, they had to call in extra officers to handle a group of over 20 people who were causing a disturbance at the scene.

The name of the deceased woman and the cause and manner of her death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. Currently, there are no other arrests that have been made.

Please note that the information presented in this story is based on the latest version of events reported by law enforcement officials and is subject to change.
