Good afternoon, everyone! Cold air continues its southward push as a front moves down to the Gulf Coast and across the Southeast.
Ahead of the front, scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are impacting parts of Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Though the storms are isolated, they’ve been associated with damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. Behind the front, colder air is settling in tonight, with freeze watches issued for areas where temperatures are expected to drop to or below freezing.
Meanwhile, freeze warnings have been extended into parts of Oklahoma, Alabama, and Mississippi as the cold air spreads. For Alabama and Mississippi, these warnings apply from tomorrow night into Saturday, with temperatures potentially falling to around 25°F.
Tonight, freeze warnings remain active across parts of Texas, upper Louisiana, and southeastern Oklahoma. Be sure to take precautions to protect late-season crops and livestock from the incoming chill.
