A Houston woman was arrested after allegedly stealing roughly $900 worth of merchandise from a local Kroger, according to the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office. The suspect, Cristen Johnson, 43, was captured by store security.

On February 25, 2025, Deputy Cartlidge responded to a theft in process at the Kroger store on the 16400 block of El Camino Real in Houston. Upon arrival, Deputy Cartlidge spoke with store security and the complainant, who informed him that Johnson had fled the store without paying for a considerable amount of products. Johnson was discovered to have stolen $897.71 worth of products, including household goods, apparel, flowers, and groceries.

During the investigation, it was determined that Johnson had three prior theft convictions in Galveston and Harris County. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted the allegation of theft under $2500 with two previous convictions. Johnson was taken into arrest, brought to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, and booked into jail without incident, according to a news statement from the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office.
