The suspect, Daone Feazell, allegedly began his binge by carjacking a man between Fulton and Kilpatrick around 10:30 p.m., according to the Chicago Police Department. About 18 minutes later, police say Feazell used the stolen Toyota Corolla to rob two women at gunpoint in the 2500 block of West Haddon.
His final attempted robbery took place about 10:48 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Artesian, where he allegedly approached a 36-year-old man emptying his vehicle and brandishing a gun. Unbeknownst to Feazell, the individual was a qualified concealed carry holder who replied with lethal force.
According to CPD sources, the victim drew his pistol and fired several bullets, hitting Feazell in the head and chest.
Police Find Stolen Items in Carjacked Vehicle
Authorities stated money from previous armed robberies was discovered inside the Toyota Corolla that Feazell reportedly took earlier that night.
“Police found multiple stolen items inside the vehicle, linking Feazell to at least three separate incidents within less than half an hour,” according to a law enforcement spokesperson.
Feazell was pronounced deceased on the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his identity, and the investigation is ongoing. Officials do not expect charges to be filed against the concealed carry holder.
Social Media Reacts: ‘Problem Solved’
The incident elicited a rapid and brutally hostile online reaction.
On Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), users posted a mixture of frustration, resignation, and approval.
- “Outstanding, nice shooting!” wrote user Richard Riehle.
- “To be 18 carrying on like this — it’s just sad! We gotta do better as parents,” added Kandi Notplayingaboutme Davis.
- A user going by Downtown Scott Brown tweeted simply: “Problem solved.”
Some expressed spiritual reflection:
- “Glory to God he was stopped by God. And the angels protected the other victims,” wrote GiGi Sunflowers.
- “This is y’all sign, GET Y’ALL’S Ls!!! It’s gonna be a bloody summer,” warned user Maritza Alexis.
One particularly chilling detail was Feazell’s own Facebook handle: “DaOne NoRemorse”, seemingly hinting at his mindset.
Public Safety Tensions Rising in Chicago
The event occurred amid increased concern about violent crime and juvenile involvement in armed robberies. Humboldt Park has seen an increase in criminal activity, and this clash might revive public debate about concealed carry privileges, gun violence, and self-defense legislation.
Local officials have not made any public comments, but online reactions indicate that many Chicagoans are fed up.
