Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have arrested Jonny Handy Martinez-Barillas, a 30-year-old Honduran national and known MS-13 gang member, in Clay County, Indiana.
Martinez-Barillas, who is in the United States illegally, had previously been released from a Maryland prison in 2023, despite an active ICE detainer. Authorities had charged him with first-degree murder and firearm possession before his release.
ICE agents also encountered a second undocumented individual during the arrest. Riding with Martinez-Barillas was Jose Salvador Gonzalez-Campos, a Salvadoran national and fellow MS-13 member.
Gonzalez-Campos had served a one-year sentence in federal prison for illegal firearm possession in 2018.
ICE has not released further details on the charges the two now face in Indiana but noted that both individuals are part of the violent transnational MS-13 criminal organization.
