A Guatemalan national living illegally in the United States was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Revere on Monday after being charged with assaulting a child and a family member, officials said.
Arrest follows local criminal charges

Cosme De Leon-Barrios, 46, was arrested by Revere Police on Jan. 27 for assault and battery on a minor with injury, as well as assault and abuse on a family member.
After being released from local custody, ICE authorities arrested De Leon-Barrios and placed him in federal custody.
Illegal entry flagged by immigration officials
De Leon-Barrios entered the country on an unidentified date and location, and immigration officials never inspected, admitted, or paroled him, according to ICE.
“Cosme De Leon-Barrios is charged with brutally assaulting a child with an injury in our Massachusetts community,” said ICE ERO Boston Acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde.
Ongoing custody and immigration proceedings
De Leon-Barrios remains in ICE detention while officials begin removal proceedings. ICE underlined that instances involving people charged with violent offenses are still a primary enforcement priority.
