In Texas, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have apprehended an undocumented migrant who they claim has illegally entered the country on multiple occasions.
Jorge Carvajal Castrejon, 36, got arrested in Houston on January 28th as part of a joint immigration enforcement operation involving the FBI and other agencies. ICE released a statement confirming the arrest.
According to ICE, Castrejon has been accused of unlawfully entering the United States on six separate occasions.
Authorities claim that he had a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated in Harris County.
The arrest occurred during ICE’s heightened enforcement operations in Chicago and New York this week, in addition to routine daily enforcement around the country, according to the statement.
Some of the activities were carried out in Baltimore and Houston, according to the CIA.
“ICE Houston remains committed to working with our law enforcement partners to apprehend and remove criminal aliens like Carvajal from the local community who violate our nation’s immigration laws and present a threat to public safety, national security, and border security,” ICE’s Houston Field Office told FOX 26.
ICE is working to arrest “criminal illegal aliens with no legal basis to remain in the United States,” according to authorities.
Immigration enforcement operations involve federal law enforcement partners from the FBI, DEA, ATF, CBP, and the United States Marshals Service in a whole-of-government effort.
