Illinois prepares for powerful thunderstorms and heat indexes of 112 degrees

Illinoisans should brace themselves for a week of harsh weather conditions as the National Weather Service Central Illinois warns of occasional thunderstorms and extreme heat in the region. The upcoming days may witness strong to severe thunderstorms, particularly on Monday afternoon and evening, as well as Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service has forecasted an increase in the intensity of heat over the next few days. The heat index is expected to reach its peak between Tuesday and Thursday, ranging from 100 to 112 degrees. Thunderstorms are likely to occur in the afternoon and evening on Monday, with temperatures ranging from 85 to 88 degrees. Night temperatures are expected to drop to 69-71 degrees, with the possibility of early morning fog.

The weather for Tuesday predicts a slight possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon, along with a temperature hike between 88-93 degrees. The night temperatures will range from 70-72 degrees and may experience showers and thunderstorms.

On Wednesday, brace yourself for scorching temperatures of 90-95 degrees. The heat index is expected to soar between 104 and 112 degrees, making it the hottest day. Along with the heat, expect showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and night. As the night progresses, temperatures are likely to drop, hovering around 72-76 degrees.

Expect high temperatures on Thursday ranging from 88-94 degrees with a possibility of thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon. Night temperatures will be cooler, with a range of 72-77 degrees.

The weather for Friday predicts persistent heat with temperatures ranging from 85-91 degrees and a heat index of 96-100 degrees. There will be showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and night, with overnight temperatures slightly dropping to 69-74 degrees.
