A crash on Tuesday morning resulted in an Indiana State Police trooper being airlifted to the hospital.
The crash occurred on State Road 22 near County Road 600 East shortly after 9 a.m., according to the ISP.
Senior Trooper Weston Shanks was patrolling in a Dodge Charger, heading westbound on State Road 22, following a Ford F-450 that was pulling a utility trailer. As the truck started to decelerate in preparation for a right turn, the Charger unexpectedly collided with the trailer, according to a press release from the Indiana State Police (ISP).
The Charger veered off the south side of the road and collided with a ditch.
Trooper Shanks sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital via air ambulance. Fortunately, the other driver involved in the crash did not suffer any injuries.
The ISP is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident, but there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol being a factor in the crash.
