In November, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) reaffirmed her support for Kamala Harris, stating that she would continue to back the vice president’s campaign even in the face of opposition from other lawmakers.
During an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid, Crockett expressed his opinion on the idea of replacing Joe Manchin and other politicians. He stated, “So this idea of throwing out Joe Manchin and all these other people. Listen, if you all decide to go any other way, have fun with that.”
“I will only work tirelessly, campaign fervently, and place my unwavering trust in Vice President Kamala Harris, as she is the only individual who possesses the necessary qualifications and capabilities.”
In response to the news that Senator Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) is contemplating switching back to the Democratic party and challenging Harris for the nomination, Crockett gave a statement.
Senator Manchin, who will retire from the Senate this year and is not seeking re-election, supports the concept of an “open primary” to determine a successor for President Biden.
During an interview with CNN‘s “State of the Union” on Sunday before the president’s announcement, Manchin expressed his belief that they have a wealth of talented individuals on the bench. “We have a lot of good people,” he said.
During a recent discussion, the West Virginia legislator mentioned that Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky and Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania have been successful in working with legislatures that may be evenly split or completely opposite of their party affiliation. The lawmaker noted that both Democrats have been able to bring people together, despite any potential political differences.
He remarked that the state has not been divided and people have not been forced to take sides and vilify the other side. Instead, the open process has brought people together.
After Biden’s announcement, Shapiro gave his endorsement to Harris, but Beshear refrained from immediately endorsing the vice president. However, the Kentucky governor is scheduled to make an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday.
On X, Crockett affirmed her unwavering support for Harris, telling Reid that she stands firmly behind her. Crockett emphasized that she has been consistent in expressing her endorsement of Harris.
According to the Texas Democrat, “She’s the second in command as the Vice President. She possesses the capability and determination to complete the task at hand!”
