A disturbed and possessive girlfriend, who relentlessly fired shots at her boyfriend in a Texas field until her ammunition ran out, has been released from jail on bond, leaving her former partner terrified for his safety.
On September 5th, Alexys Pinto, a 23-year-old woman, allegedly deceived her boyfriend into going to a secluded spot on Houston’s South Side under the pretense of watching the sunset. However, to his shock, she unexpectedly brandished a firearm and began firing shots.
Elvis Muñoz vividly remembers the terrifying moment when his former girlfriend opened fire on him. Bullets pierced through his hands, stomach, and chest, intending to end his life swiftly.
Pinto faced arrest and was charged with aggravated assault on a family member. Initially, he was taken into custody and his bail was set at $75,000 at the Harris County Jail.
According to court documents viewed by The Post, Pinto was released from jail on Nov. 15, two months after her arrest, when a Houston court lowered her bail to $10,000, which was subsequently paid.
Muñoz strongly criticized the court system for granting his ex-girlfriend her freedom just a few months after she allegedly attempted to murder him. The sudden release has left him shocked and outraged.
Muñoz expressed her deep disbelief and heartbreak at the fact that she had dedicated three years of her life to caring for someone, only to be repaid with violence. In an interview with KHOU, she recounted the terrifying moment when her patient attempted to take her life, emphasizing the betrayal she felt after giving so much love and care.
A courageous police officer, who bravely confronted and neutralized a dangerous career criminal despite sustaining a gunshot wound, was greeted with a heartfelt ovation as he left the hospital in New York City.
After the shooting, Muñoz, who had previously worked as a mechanic, now experiences limited movement in his hands.
“I fired multiple rounds. I battled for my life for hours,” he recounted.
Muñoz’s sister, Ana Fernandez expressed her anger towards the system for not fulfilling their responsibilities. She highlighted the fact that someone had mentioned Muñoz’s mental illness.
On September 21, Judge Sharon Chu of Harris County Hearing signed a form stating that Pinto has been diagnosed with a mental illness or intellectual disability.
Earlier in the day on September 5th, Pinto’s frustration with Muñoz began when a client brought a car for him to repair, leaving her feeling irritated.
According to charging documents, Pinto was furious and tried to hit Muñoz, resulting in him grabbing her wrists and asking her to calm down.

As they arrived at the field near State Highway 288 and Airport Boulevard, Pinto swiftly dashed out of the car, while Muñoz called out, “Babe, babe.”
“Are you seriously asking me to teach you about deer hunting? Do you honestly expect me to go deer hunting out here? Screw you. What the hell is your problem, treating me like this! You’re such a dumbass,” Pinto reportedly exclaimed, with both of them standing just five feet away from each other.
As both of his hands were hit, Pinto, reportedly holding the gun in a “titled manner,” continued shouting insults at Muñoz.
Muñoz recounted the moment when he sensed a sudden impact on his left hand. He described the sensation as a surge of heat rushing through his hand. In the midst of running, he instinctively clutched his chest and stomach, overwhelmed by the intensity of the experience.
According to the arrest affidavit, Muñoz exclaimed, “Oh my God, it’s not my time! What did I do, what did I do?”
“I apologize, I didn’t intend to harm you in that manner. My shots weren’t accurate,” Muñoz remembered Pinto saying as she stood over him. “I didn’t mean for it to happen this way. It was supposed to be a quick encounter.”
Muñoz managed to block Pinto’s shot by raising his hands to shield his face.
When Pinto ran out of bullets, Muñoz managed to persuade his ex-partner to assist him. She graciously offered to drive him to a nearby gas station while engaged in a conversation with her father on the phone.
Muñoz told KPRC that he expressed his love for her and his desire to continue their relationship. He shared his hopes of growing together, starting a family, and appealed to her to understand his perspective.
An ambulance was waiting for the couple at the gas station, located three and a half miles away from the site of the shooting.
After being bailed out of jail, Muñoz was immediately rushed to the hospital. He underwent multiple surgeries, including a procedure to extract a bullet lodged in his chest.
Muñoz expressed concerns about the potential behavior of his partner. According to him, she might become jealous, controlling, and may even try to isolate him from his loved ones. He also mentioned that she tends to hold grudges.
Due to her bail conditions, Pinto is prohibited from being in close proximity to Muñoz and his family. Additionally, she is required to wear an ankle monitor.
