Two women from Honduras and El Salvador were discovered abandoned in the Rio Grande Valley on Saturday morning by a smuggling guide.
The Texas Department of Public Safety’s South Texas Region K9 team successfully carried out the rescue operation. K9 Fibi and her handler played a crucial role in tracking and locating the immigrants. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the immigrants were later handed over to the United States Border Patrol.
The department has reported that on January 24, 2025, a total of 665 illegal border crossings took place across nine sectors. Out of these, 78 were recorded in the Rio Grande Valley sector, while Del Rio sector saw 46 illegal border crossings.
