A traffic stop early Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of two Lakeland residents on several felonies, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred about 3:05 a.m. on May 24th, when a PCSO deputy stopped a red Nissan Altima on Eagle Avenue near 12th Street in Eagle Lake.
The driver, 39-year-old Datrianne Evonne Crawford of Lakeland, was found to be driving with a suspended license. Authorities say her license has been suspended since December 2024, and she has two prior convictions for Driving While License Suspended/Revoked (DWLSR).
Investigators also discovered that Crawford had failed to inform the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) of a change of address, despite moving over two years prior.
Deputies on the scene stated that Crawford seemed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She then did poorly on field sobriety tests.
During the inquiry, the front seat passenger, 43-year-old James Tyrone Crawford of Lakeland, allegedly exited the vehicle and approached officers. Despite numerous requests to return to the car, James allegedly refused and interfered with the deputies’ investigation.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested Datrianne and James Crawford and took them to the Polk County Jail.
Datrianne Crawford is charged with driving under the influence (DUI), felony driving while license suspended/revoked (DWLSR), and failure to notify change of address. She also refused to undergo a breath test.
James Crawford was charged with interfering with a first responder on duty (under the HALO Law) and resisting an officer without violence.
