Kansas firefighters are on their way to Oregon and Idaho to assist in fighting wildfires. The firefighters are coming from all over the state to provide aid in containing the fires.

The Kansas Forest Service announced on Thursday that a group of 10 firefighters hailing from various regions of the state, including Wichita, Olathe, Ottawa, and Edwardsville, are en route to lend a hand to the Oregon Department of Forestry. Their mission is to assist with 34 sizable fires, the majority of which are concentrated in the central and eastern areas of the state.

The Durkee Fire in Eastern Oregon will be receiving assistance from the Hutchinson Fire Department for the next two weeks. Meanwhile, Captain Troy Mueller from HFD will be heading to Idaho to join the efforts in fighting the Gwen Fire.

The Pacific Northwest has witnessed a staggering 1,562 square miles of land being burned this summer, as reported by the Associated Press.
