As Central Georgia braces for low temperatures and anticipated winter snow on Tuesday, some school districts have announced changes to accommodate the severe weather.
The closures came nearly two weeks after several schools shuttered on Jan. 9 due to another round of cold and winter weather in Central Georgia’s northern counties.
During that storm, the northern counties of Central Georgia mostly saw a wintry mix and icy roads, with only the most northern counties, such as Putnam, seeing snow, but models for Central Georgia indicate that snow is possible starting Tuesday afternoon and lasting into the night for much of the area.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all Central Georgia counties, including Upson, Putnam, Telfair, and Crisp counties.
Here’s an overview of Central Georgia school closures and modifications due to expected winter weather.
