Southern Louisiana and southeast Texas are expected to experience a burst of summerlike heat, with temperatures reaching the mid-90s by midweek, particularly in Alexandria, Jasper, and Lake Charles.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, the warming trend will begin Monday evening and peak between Tuesday and Thursday. High temperatures are forecast to range from 91°F to 95°F in cities throughout Southwest Louisiana (SWLA) and Southeast Texas (SETX), including Beaumont, De Ridder, and Lafayette. The heat will be accompanied by mostly dry skies, raising questions about hydration and heat safety.
Wednesday’s high in Alexandria is expected to be 95°F, making it one of the warmest days this spring. Lake Charles, Jennings, and Leesville may reach 93°F by Thursday. Overnight lows will remain in the 70s, providing modest reprieve.
Residents are encouraged to reduce their outside activities during peak heat, drink plenty of water, and keep an eye on susceptible neighbors. With high pressure rising, rain chances are low until next weekend, raising the possibility of slight drought stress and outdoor fire hazards.
This early-season heat pattern is projected to last throughout next week. Additional warnings may be issued if temperatures continue to increase.
