A woman was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash in downtown Indianapolis, leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old man for the incident.

On Tuesday, there was a report of a person being struck at the intersection of W. Michigan St. and N. Illinois St., and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department quickly responded to the incident.
The police discovered that the driver of the car that hit Ms. Gibbs had left the scene before the officers arrived.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is currently conducting a search for the driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash.
Multiple witnesses played a crucial role in the investigation as they provided detectives with key information. Thanks to their valuable input, officers were able to track down the suspect’s truck, a gray 2018 Ford F-150. The vehicle was discovered in the 100 block of W. Market St., exhibiting front-end damage and a broken headlight.
The police identified the suspect after towing and processing the truck for additional evidence. They also obtained video footage from nearby businesses, which helped in the investigation.
He was apprehended on Wednesday at the 4300 block of Redfern Drive in Beech Grove. According to the police, he declined to give a statement.
According to court records, Drane has a history of multiple traffic violations, which include speeding and reckless driving.
