On Tuesday, authorities arrested a man suspected of drug dealing and found more than a pound of drugs at the Jackson airport.
According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, narcotics detectives and Jackson Municipal Airport Authority officers got information about a passenger on an inbound flight.
Around 12:13 p.m., federal and local law enforcement agents performed a K-9 search of items being unloaded from the plane.
During that time, a K-9 alerted to two bags belonging to the passenger, Monroe Milton, 38, of Jackson, which had been reported to law enforcement.
Investigators arrested Milton after he admitted to them that he had about one pound of mushrooms in his luggage.
When officials inspected the luggage, several items were seized, including drug paraphernalia, multiple jars of marijuana products totaling 68 grams, and a clear zip-tied bag containing around 493 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.
Milton was arrested for trafficking controlled substances and sent to the Rankin County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $100,000 bond.
