Man Leads Mississippi Officers On Multi-county Pursuit In Stolen Slingshot Three-wheeler

A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen Polaris Slingshot that originated in Hancock County ended dramatically on Sunday, June 22, when the suspect crashed into a ditch and attempted to flee on foot. Quick action by Pearl River County Sheriff’s Deputies and Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) officers resulted in the individual’s arrest, who was later discovered to have current warrants from Georgia.

The chase began when the Mississippi Highway Patrol launched a pursuit of the stolen Polaris Slingshot. As the car entered Pearl River County, sheriff’s deputies joined the search. Deputy Temple attempted to destroy the car with spike strips, but the suspect managed to dodge them.

However, the suspect’s escape attempt was short-lived. The driver quickly lost control of the three-wheeled vehicle, pushing it into a ditch. Undeterred, the suspect abandoned the Slingshot and attempted to leave on foot.

Pearl River County Corporal Landrum and MHP troopers soon closed in and arrested the fleeing offender. Following the arrest, authorities determined that the suspect was wanted in Georgia and would face full extradition.

The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department complimented the collaboration of all departments involved, noting they were “proud of the teamwork displayed…in bringing this dangerous situation to an end.”
