According to the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia, a man was sentenced on Friday for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in the head as she was sitting next to her best friend in 2021.
Idrissa Fall, 37, was convicted in January of first-degree murder while armed, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
According to the USAO, he was sentenced to 50 years in jail and five years of supervised release.
According to court filings, on July 18, 2021, at about 1:30 a.m., Fall followed his ex-girlfriend Dara Northern home after she had previously broken up with him and kicked him out.
Fall continued to follow Northern as she headed to meet her best buddy, who was waiting in the parking lot.
According to court filings, when Northern got into the car, Fall reached into his belt and pulled a revolver out. Fall then shot Northern in the head before fleeing the area.
Northern died later that day as a result of a gunshot to the right eye.
