A man was shot and killed while sitting in a car in Philadelphia’s Fairhill section, according to officials.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers responded to many 911 calls for a gunshot on the 3400 block of Hope Street Tuesday evening, shortly after 8 p.m.
The victim, a 42-year-old man, was transported to Temple University Hospital in a private vehicle and died of his injuries.
Inspector Small said the individual was shot many times while inside a car. He added that detectives discovered 16 casings at the scene, including 14 from a semi-automatic rifle and two from a semi-automatic handgun.
He stated that investigators observed a black SUV driving south away from the Hope Street scene.
While officials claim a black SUV was seen, no suspect information was supplied.
Chief Inspector Small did mention that there are many cameras on the block that could be useful in the inquiry.
