An Arizona man wanted in Texas was found in Pennsylvania after accidentally shooting himself, according to state police.
Jeramiah Demetrius Gray, 27, of Florence, Arizona, was arrested last week in Bedford County on firearm charges and is wanted in Texas, according to state police.
A criminal complaint details the dispatch of troopers to UPMC Bedford in response to a gunshot victim. Gray allegedly walked there with a gunshot wound in his leg. He was wrapped and left after learning police were called due to the injuries.
Troopers reported spotting him departing in a Penske box truck, which they later discovered after he got on I-99.
After being pulled over, authorities claimed Gray revealed that his weapon accidentally discharged, injuring him in the leg. He was identified by his Arizona driver’s license and discovered to have a warrant for his arrest in Texas for assault.
Gray was sent back to UPMC for treatment. According to the accusations, a weapon was discovered in the cab of the box truck. Gray, as a fugitive, is not entitled to own a handgun.
Gray was detained in Bedford County Prison with a $150,000 bail, in addition to facing allegations in Texas.
A preliminary hearing on the firearm charges is set for July 2.
