On Tuesday, the mayor of Tuskegee announced that the duties of the city’s police chief and assistant chief have been revoked.
Mayor Lawrence F. Haygood Jr. announced that the department has parted ways with Chief Jennifer Jordan and Assistant Chief Michael Provo.
In a press release, Haygood stated that the City of Tuskegee has decided to take a new direction with the leadership of the Tuskegee Police Department due to public safety concerns. The decision was made on Tuesday afternoon.
He chose not to provide any further details.
After a recent retirement as Tuskegee University’s director of public safety and having previously served as police chief in Fairfield, Patrick Mardis has been appointed as the interim chief.
According to Haygood, the search for a permanent chief will commence immediately.
