Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) asked for custody of an arrested illegal alien charged with attempting to assault a corpse sexually on a New York subway train.
According to an ICE press release, illegal migrant Felix Rojas has illegally entered the United States several times since 1998, but his most recent arrest resulted in charges of rape and grand larceny.
Early in April, authorities arrested Rojas, 44, and charged him with robbing a man on the R train. Surveillance cameras allegedly caught Rojas going into the pockets of a man who was lying motionless on the train. According to USA Today, the footage also appeared to show Rojas sexually assaulting the victim, who was later pronounced dead.
According to the New York Post, Rojas has illegally crossed the border at least five times before.
The accused alien handed himself in on April 27 and was arraigned Tuesday.
According to investigators, the deceased, Jorge Gonzales, died of liver cirrhosis following years of drunkenness.
ICE also said it had issued a detainer for Honduran national Enoc Martinez, who was accused of first-degree murder in a shooting spree in Memphis that left two others hospitalized. Martinez came to the United States illegally in 2014 as an unaccompanied kid. He received a final order of removal in 2022.
Martinez was charged with five counts of attempted first-degree murder, five counts of using a firearm to commit a violent felony, fleeing arrest on foot, evading arrest in an automobile, and intimidation, according to WMC-TV.
“With impunity, open border policies have allowed violent criminal aliens to terrorize America’s towns and cities,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia Mclaughlin. “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, ICE is working around the clock to remove the worst of the worst from our communities. If you are here illegally and break the law, we will hunt you down, arrest you and lock you up.”
