An Amber Alert that covered Wisconsin, Missouri, and Arkansas has been canceled. Sophia Franklin, the teen, has been located and is safe. In addition, the baby’s father has been arrested.

Late Wednesday night, the Sarpy County Nebraska Sheriff’s Office reacted to a tip about Sophia Franklin, the juvenile included in the Amber Alert issued in early February 2025, possibly being seen near Omaha, Nebraska.

Law enforcement made contact with a minor who was accompanying an adult male who matched the description of the male suspect she was seen leaving with, Gary Day.

Their identities were positively established, and the culprit, Gary Day, was taken into jail. Sophia Franklin was moved to a safe institution to await reunification with her family.

“Beaver Dam Police would like to thank the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the numerous other law enforcement agencies that put forth the time and effort to locate Sophia. We would also like to thank the community members in multiple states for their awareness and willingness to share leads to follow to help bring Sophia safely home.”

Day was booked into the Sarpy County Detention Center at 12:30 a.m. He is being held by a full US extradition warrant on charges from Wisconsin:

  • Contribute to delinquency of child
  • False reporting misdemeanor
  • Fugitive from justice/prior to gov. warr (3x)

He will be extradited to Wisconsin to face these allegations.
