A Mississippi church deacon was killed in a shooting at an Easter egg hunt.
Eddie Shed, the deacon at Empowerment Ministries Christian Center, was slain. At least three people were hurt.
The shooting occurred at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of the Jack and Florence Goldin Sportsplex.
According to church members, Shed was attempting to protect children when he was shot.
Speaking on Shed, church member Alexis Weathersby said, “He died a hero doing what he does best, and that’s protecting and that’s loving and that’s looking out for everyone. He was just a wonderful man that was willing to do any and everything for anyone.”
Gulfport, Mississippi, police have three people in custody as they continue their investigation.
