A Mississippi man was arrested by deputies from the Panola County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) on New Year’s Eve after a search of his home uncovered two pounds of methamphetamine.
According to the PCSO, James Daugherty, a 57-year-old man, had been under investigation for several months. On December 31, deputies pulled him over for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, drugs and a gun were discovered in Daugherty’s vehicle.
Upon obtaining a search warrant, deputies proceeded to search the suspect’s residence where they discovered a substantial amount of illicit substances. Specifically, they found 888 grams of methamphetamine, 544 grams of marijuana, and eight firearms, with one of them reported as stolen. Additionally, a significant sum of cash was also seized during the operation, as confirmed by the PCSO.
According to the PCSO, Daugherty may potentially face additional charges in addition to the ones he already faces for the possession of drugs and a stolen gun.
