An 18-year-old from Mississippi was detained and charged in connection with a deadly Brick Church Pike crash.

Metro Nashville Police said the crash happened Wednesday evening on the 2400 block of Brick Church Pike.

According to police, McNeal was driving a RAM 1500 pickup truck at high speeds in the northbound lane of Brick Church Pike when he attempted to pass other vehicles in the center two-way left turn lane.

When attempting to pass, McNeal swerved to avoid another car, crossed into oncoming traffic in the southbound lane, and lost control. McNeal’s truck collided head-on with a southbound Honda. During the collision, a Toyota Camry heading north was also struck.

According to police, the driver of the Honda was transferred to Skyline Medical Center, where he died. The driver of the Toyota was not injured. McNeal and his two companions were also sent to nearby hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

Officers report that there were no symptoms of impairment at the site.

After being released from a local hospital, McNeal was charged with vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle, and three charges of aggravated assault.
