A Damascus resident has been arrested for allegedly engaging in a crime spree in Pennsylvania over the weekend. Police in that state said David Kelpy, 40, robbed a Royal Farms convenience store in Straban Township on Friday. After taking $89.84 from the store’s cashier, he allegedly departed in a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
According to Luzerne County authorities, Kelpy crashed the Ram truck into a parked vehicle in West Hazleton, Pennsylvania, early Saturday morning. Police say he then got out of the truck, grabbed the driver of the car he hit out, and flung them into the road. According to authorities, Kelpy assaulted the driver before taking the victim’s car and running him over as he fled.
Kelpy was found and apprehended in Pittston Township, Pennsylvania. He was booked into the Luzerne County Jail, where his bail has been set at $150,000.
