Last week, the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop that led to a trafficking arrest.
A deputy observed a traffic stop after seeing a car with incorrect lights and making an illegal lane change. When the deputy confronted the driver, the stop became more serious.
“There was an odor of marijuana coming from the car,” Elmore County sheriff Bill Franklin said. “There was evidence of drugs visible in the console area.”
The deputy got the driver and passenger out of the vehicle.
197 pills believed to be ecstasy were discovered on the vehicle’s passenger side. White powder, thought to be cocaine, was also discovered. There was also marijuana.
Winifer Weston, 41, of Montgomery, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, two counts of possession of a prohibited substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of prescription medications, and tampering with evidence. She was released after posting a bond of $1,539,000.
The driver, John Fuller, 36, of Montgomery, was detained and charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. He was also cited for improper lane changes and lighting. He was freed from jail the following day after paying bond.
