On Tuesday, an elderly 97-year-old woman from Harlem expressed her desire to see the perpetrator who robbed and pushed her to the ground while riding a scooter, caught and punished for their actions. The victim referred to the perpetrator as a “lowlife” and hopes that justice will be served.

Thelma Mason was outraged as she stated, “He deserves to be in jail for 20 years. Maybe then he will learn how to show basic courtesy towards other human beings. You simply cannot treat someone like this.”

“I don’t like it when people get too close to me when I’m traveling, particularly when they’re on motorbikes,” she explained. “I’m always on edge, never knowing if someone is going to attack me again.”

A 96-year-old woman in New York City was the victim of a violent necklace snatching by a perpetrator on a moped. The brute stole her necklace and knocked her to the ground. Police are currently investigating the incident.

As Mason was making her way home from the store, she noticed a suspicious figure on two wheels at West 127th Street and Eighth Avenue. It was shortly before 5:30 p.m. on May 24th, and she couldn’t shake off the feeling that she was being watched.

As I was walking home, minding my own business, I caught sight of a man on a motorbike – or whatever those things are called – waiting at the bus stop, just one block away,” recounted the nonagenarian.

As I locked eyes with him, he locked eyes with me. I was simply going about my day when he revved up his engine and headed straight towards me. In a split second, he yanked the necklace right off my neck without warning.

She recounted, “As usual, I was strolling leisurely when it happened. I had no inkling that he would pounce on me.”

Mason was left with a painful scratch on her arm and a bruised hip as a result of the cowardly attack.

Carlos Santiago, an eyewitness, spoke out on Tuesday, stating that the perpetrator who attacked the elderly woman must be a despicable individual. Santiago noted that the attacker deliberately targeted the woman and knew exactly which direction she was heading.

Santiago, 47, recounted the incident, stating that the thief had approached the bus stop and waited patiently on the sidewalk. As soon as he spotted his target, he swiftly rode his scooter towards her, seized the chain, and sped away. The victim fell and sustained injuries as a result of the forceful act.

Police have reported that the thief is still at large and has yet to be apprehended. Additionally, the 18-karat gold necklace adorned with a Gemini twins pendant, which was a precious gift from the victim’s daughter, has not been recovered.

Since 1951, Mason has been a resident of Harlem. In the past, he used to work as a cleaner for office buildings.

According to The Post, she mentioned that the world has changed significantly. In the past, she used to enjoy partying at night and would return home at two or three in the morning without any trouble. However, now the scenario has changed drastically as people cannot even go out during the day without the fear of being robbed. She further added that incidents of theft have become quite common nowadays.
