Mother charged with endangering children in Harris County
Here’s what we know: Early Tuesday morning, officials responded to a 911 call at the 12000 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.
According to authorities, a concerned caller reported that an adult female, later identified as Ayana McClinton, aged 30, was found laying on the sidewalk in front of a business along with two infants.
Authorities later determined that the infants were aged two months and one year.
McClinton, who was found intoxicated, made the decision to take a nap outdoors on the ground despite the freezing 28-degree weather.
McClinton was discovered with an open alcoholic beverage in close proximity.
McClinton showed signs of intoxication, according to authorities.
EMS officials responded to the scene after receiving a distress call. They immediately attended to the two infants, who were found to be experiencing cold-related injuries. The infants were promptly transported to the hospital for further medical attention.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and they accepted two charges of endangering a child.
There is still a lot that we are unaware of: It is uncertain how much time had passed before authorities were alerted to the presence of the mother and her infants outside.
The officials did not provide any updates regarding the status of the children.
