In Hidalgo and Webb Counties this week, the Texas Department of Public Safety’s South Texas Region has reported multiple incidents of human smuggling. The department has confirmed that K9 Eki played a vital role in tracking down and finding two undocumented immigrants who were hiding in the brush.
According to the source, a Texas DPS Trooper apprehended Jose Carranza Jr. of San Antonio in Laredo after a vehicle pursuit. Furthermore, two other smugglers, Armando Vela and June Olivo, were arrested when a truck tractor semi-trailer was stopped, uncovering 12 illegal immigrants in the sleeper. In Hidalgo County, a trooper arrested Jose Luis Luna, a smuggling guide who had three outstanding arrest warrants.
