The mysterious case of a human head discovered inside an Amazon box on the city’s West Side is likely to remain unsolved.
A man made the horrifying discovery while walking his dog in the 2600 block of West Taylor at 5:30 p.m. on October 10. According to Chicago police, the individual claimed to be “on the sidewalk and discovered a box containing an unknown victim’s remains inside.”
CPD opened a death investigation, and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office began work on the case.
According to newly available information, the medical examiner has been unable to determine how or why the individual died. Investigators were unable to determine whether the person was male or female, according to the office. The office has closed the case, leaving the reason and manner of death “undetermined.”
Unless fresh information emerges or more of the individual’s body is discovered, the case will most likely remain unsolved.
