Police in Passaic County are investigating the death of a Clifton man whose corpse was discovered Tuesday afternoon behind a shopping center on Route 21.
Cesilio Coyotzi, 49, was discovered dead around 2:20 p.m. in a wooded area, down an embankment between the highway and Botany Plaza, according to Clifton Police Lt. Robert Anderson.
“The site included a makeshift shelter, and personal belongings,” Anderson said. Police and emergency personnel determined Coyotzi was deceased upon their arrival.
Anderson stated that investigators are still looking into Coyotzi’s death’s cause, but they do not suspect foul play.
Anderson advised anyone in need of refuge to phone 211 or their local police agency.
Anderson stated that Clifton maintains a warming facility on a regular basis when temperatures drop below freezing.
