New York, along with 17 other states, as well as San Francisco and Washington DC, have filed a lawsuit in response to President Donald Trump’s Executive Order, which eliminates the guarantee of US citizenship for children of unauthorized immigrants.
Birthright citizenship, according to New York Attorney General Letitia James, is a constitutional right bestowed upon every child born within the United States.
The lawsuit, filed in Massachusetts, seeks to invalidate the executive order and halt any efforts to implement it, according to her statement.
