Authorities are still looking for a 51-year-old New York man who went missing early on June 25 while on vacation with his wife in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Brian Tarrence, a Manhattan resident, arrived in the British Overseas Territory with his spouse on June 22 and planned to leave on June 29. According to media accounts, the couple was staying at an Airbnb on the island of Providenciales when he abruptly fled without explanation, carrying his phone and money.
According to the family’s private investigator, surveillance video from the early morning shows Tarrence wandering alone in a safe location.
“We have him on camera, and he walks into town, and then he basically disappears, and we haven’t heard from him since,” the investigator, Carl DeFazio, said.
Tarrence and his wife had been having a typical holiday. DeFazio said that the day before his disappearance, the couple went on a boat ride and to dinner together.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has opened a missing persons investigation.
