It seems that the Cincinnati Bengals are currently grappling with a worrying predicament involving their two standout players. Both Ja’Marr Chase, their star wide receiver, and Trey Hendrickson, their star defensive end, have been absent from team practices.

According to a recent report by Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, it appears that Ja’Marr Chase and Trey Hendrickson have been absent from several team practices due to contract disputes. It seems that both players are dissatisfied with their current contracts and are seeking better terms.

According to Pro Football Talk’s article by Smith, Ja’Marr Chase, the star wide receiver, has not been practicing since the start of the camp. Although neither Chase nor coach Zac Taylor has disclosed the reason for his absence, it is evident that Chase is seeking a much higher salary than his current base salary of $1.055 million for this year. Bengals owner Mike Brown has stated that he does not anticipate a new contract for Chase anytime soon, leading to a stalemate between the two parties. With Chase unwilling to take the field for a team that he believes undervalues him, the situation seems to be at an impasse.

Defensive end Trey Hendrickson, who participated in the first day of training camp, has now missed three consecutive practices. During the offseason, Hendrickson expressed his desire for a trade, but later changed his stance and expressed his interest in playing for the Bengals in the long term. While Hendrickson is due to make $15 million this season and $16 million in the next, he believes he deserves more. With 39.5 sacks in his three seasons with the Bengals, including a career-high of 17.5 last year, it’s difficult to argue against his position.

The Bengals are undoubtedly in a tough spot, and as expected, social media has been abuzz with reactions to the situation.

Let’s wait and observe how this situation unfolds.
