In the early hours of the morning, specifically at 3:39 a.m., officers from the North Caldwell police department were on their way to a home on Robin Hill Road in response to a reported break-in. As they made their way towards the scene, they noticed a white BMW X3 speeding down the street. To their astonishment, the vehicle veered off the road, crossed a lawn, and collided with a North Caldwell Police patrol vehicle, causing significant damage. Despite this collision, the driver of the BMW did not stop and proceeded to crash into a residence on Park Avenue, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Police said that four suspects, two adults named Samir Y. Jordan (20) and Quamine Y. McDonald (18) from Newark, along with two juveniles, fled the scene on foot but were quickly apprehended.
Officers found a firearm at the scene during the investigation. The police have taken all four suspects into custody and charged them with various offenses, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, burglary, criminal trespass, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a prohibited high-capacity magazine.
