Police are searching for the man accused of raping another man on a No. 1 train in Manhattan on Saturday, according to the NYPD.
Police said it happened at 4:15 a.m. Authorities say the suspect made lewd remarks and demanded money from the 27-year-old victim while they were both traveling on the northbound train.
As the train approached the Christopher Street subway station, police said they forced the victim to perform an obscene act. Authorities said the suspect left the train at the station.
According to police, the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The suspect was last seen dressed in a dark blue shirt, dark blue trousers, and white and blue sneakers.
According to NYPD crime data, overall transit crime has increased by 25% in the city since this time last year. Earlier this year, Gov. Kathy Hochul promised to boost the number of police officers in the subway system, including adding two cops on each overnight train.
