Nelda Vick Eubank passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2021 in her assisted living apartment at The Pointe in Cedar Park. She was born February 8, 1932 in Placid, Texas to Vergie and George Vick. She graduated from Rochelle High School in 1948 and also Brownwood Business College. She was married to Jesse D. Eubank from July 20, 1951 until his death in 1997. During Jess’s time in the military, Nelda embraced the lifestyle and enjoyed living in Japan while he was stationed there in the mid-1950s. Nelda and Jess raised their three children in Houston, Japan, Waco and Austin, where she had lived since 1967. They traveled throughout North America and Hawaii for vacations, and she also traveled to Europe with friends. She was a stay-at-home mom, except for her once-per-week "job" at Weight Watchers, where she made many lifelong friends.
Nelda was an active member of Anderson Mill Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in her Sunday School class, all of whom were a continual support and encouragement to her. She was a pianist from a young age and played songs from the hymnal throughout her life. She was active in the YMCA water aerobics class for many years and was always a very sociable person. Nelda belonged to several card, dominoes and other game groups, yet also enjoyed solving word puzzles and watching Jeopardy at home. She often could be found looking out into her yard, watching the birds and squirrels scurrying about and she always made sure they were well-fed.
Nelda was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jess, her oldest son Jay, and her brother, Dalton Vick and wife Violet. She is survived by her daughter Linda Bebee and husband Bill of Austin, son Darryl Eubank and wife Janet of Malaga, Spain. She was known and loved as Mamaw and GMamaw to two grandsons and six great grandchildren — Kyle Bebee and wife Meredith of Dallas, Stella Cate (12) Sutton (10) Miller (6) and Hank (3), and Clay Bebee and wife Abigail of Ft. Worth, Bleecker (6) and Marion (4). She cherished her time with family.
Nelda loved her Lord, her family and her friends to the youngest of generations. She exemplified Southern hospitality by making everyone feel welcome in her home and always offering something delicious. In your condolences, many have said she was “just the sweetest person,” “like a second Mom to me,” “loving and kind, gracious, caring and gentle”. That’s the Mom and friend we knew.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Pointe at Cedar Park and Encompass Healthcare for their incredible care. They were like family to her and she called The Pointe home. You made such a difference in her life.
