A contractor from the Tulsa area is now facing 17 counts of felony embezzlement and one count of engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses. The investigation was conducted by Attorney General Gentner Drummond’s Consumer Protection Unit.

Todd Douglas Briggs, the operator of T Briggs Construction and Oasis Pools and Outdoor Living, has been charged in Creek County for allegedly defrauding 17 customers. It is alleged that Briggs took over $1.2 million from these customers for home or pool construction projects that he failed to complete or neglected to pay subcontractors for.

“I am dedicated to ensuring that individuals who engage in dishonest business practices to exploit hardworking Oklahomans are held responsible,” Drummond asserted. “I am grateful for the efforts of the attorneys, investigators, and staff in the Consumer Protection Unit as we strive to bring justice to the families who have been taken advantage of.”

In July 2023, Briggs surprised his customers with the news that he was filing for bankruptcy, despite having recently received significant payments from them. This sudden turn of events left many customers with incomplete projects and the added burden of liens placed on their homes by unpaid subcontractors. The impact of this situation was felt by consumers in Tulsa, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Collinsville, Sapulpa, Bixby, and Beggs.

If you believe you have fallen victim to contractor fraud, Drummond urges you to reach out to the Consumer Protection Unit at 1-833-681-1895 or visit Oklahoma.gov/oag.
